February 13th, 2023, Simcoe Ontario – The Norfolk County Agricultural Society is ready for 2023. The Society has hit the ground running, planning for the addition of new events, and exciting offerings to the community
Family Day will see the Norfolk County Agricultural Society offer a Pop-Up Skating Party, a FREE outdoor, community skating event. Families are invited to visit the Norfolk County Fairgrounds, 172 South Drive Simcoe, between 11:00am and 4:00pm on the holiday Monday, February 20 to enjoy Skating on an outdoor rink, Music, Hockey themed games and Free Coffee and Hot Chocolate (while quantities last). Questions come to mind, - how this is possible with so many varying weather conditions? We will be skating on synthetic, Swiss engineered artificial ice – ‘Glice’. Pro athletes use this type of ice for training, it looks and acts just like the real thing! This is a pop up, FREE, drop in event, rain or shine.
For those that require skates, a limited variety of skates will be available for use, but we encourage everyone to bring their own if they can! If you like a little competition there will be hockey nets, and skill challenge games available as well. Enjoy a place to sit, have a hot drink, skate to music and grab a bite to eat, available for purchase from a local favourite Food Truck. A great day for some family fun.
Next in the calendar is Eat & Drink Norfolk presented by CIBC Private Wealth Management April 13th – 15th at the AUD, a 19+ event. If you haven’t been before, be prepared for an evening of great food, a variety of amazing wine, craft beer and cider, a celebration of our huge variety of local offerings. Sip and sample your way through the event, enjoy live music, and visit with friends. There will be a 50/50 draw, auction items and chances to win prizes. NEW this year is the addition of the “After – Party Pavilion”, adjacent to the Aud, that will stay open late for a continuation of great music and dancing. As the nice weather moves in, we have more great news! The Norfolk Night Market that was such an incredible success last June is back! June 9th and 10th 2023 will see the fairgrounds come alive with artisan market vendors, local beer, wine and cider, food trucks, games, live local music, highlights from local tourism operators, and a festival atmosphere all under twinkle lights, and coloured flags hanging from the rooftops. Lots of fun and entertainment for the entire family. NEW this year will be the addition of two nights of headline concerts in front of the grandstands both Friday and Saturday evenings, in partnership with Norfolk County, as part of the Amplify Norfolk initiative. Just like at the Fair we’ll bring in the big stage, we’ll Party on the Track, include a VIP Section and some fantastic acts to be announced very soon! This will be a separate ticketed event in addition to the Norfolk Night Market.
